80 Years of Liberalism

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Liberal Party, The Insitute’s Museum Assistant Victoria Hronas curated an exhibit of artifacts reflecting Menzies’s and his fellow public servant’s contribution to the Party.

 

The new items on display include: Parliamentary Debates from 1946, inspiring Biographies of key Liberal Party members Dame Enid Lyons and Sir Thomas Playford, and a 1944 South Australian newspaper reporting on the day the Liberal Party was first constituted.

The items displayed are on loan from the Baillieu Library’s Robert Menzies Collection, The National Museum of Australia, The Museum of Australia Democracy at Old Parliament House, and The Menzies Family.
