The Indonesian Prime Minister Dr Djuanda formally invited Robert Menzies and Pattie Menzies to visit Indonesia. Menzies travelled with a small official party and media representatives. Principally a goodwill visit, Indonesian officials also raised concerns about China and Dutch claims over Western New Guinea with Menzies. Menzies visited President Sukarno and was the guest of honour at an official dinner. Menzies travelled to Malaysia after departing Indonesia.
