Arthur Dale Trendall (known as Dale) was a New Zealand-born Australian academic. He was educated at the University of New Zealand (now the University of Otago) and Trinity College, Cambridge before becoming Professor of Greek at the University of Sydney. From 1954 to 1969, Trendall was Master of University House at the Australian National University. In 1969, he became Resident Fellow at La Trobe University in Melbourne (Victoria).
Trendall left his personal library of more than 9000 books – together with an archive of several thousand photographs of Southern Italian vases – to La Trobe University.
