bookplate inserted; the front free endpaper is stamped “23 May 1960”. In blue ink it is noted: “ack 24. 5. 60” and in black pen “on printed card”. At the end of the book three separate loose papers are included. The first concerns “Additional Circular” from the International Law Association in May, 1960. This concerns general logistical issues concerned with the Hamburg Conference of the International Law Association in August, 1960, including a reminder to apply for visas. Additionally it sets out with respect to the programme “The Soviet Association of International Law has proposed that the Hamburg Conference should discuss the legal aspects of disarmament and set up a special committee for studying this matter. The Full Council of the Association at its meeting on August 7th, 1960, in Hamburg will decide at what time during the Conference this discussion will take place. This “Additional Circular” is stapled to an “Addendum to Additional Circular, May, 1960” which moves from Mr. W. Harvey Moore, Q.C. (London): “That this Forty-ninth Conference of the International Law Association, without prejudice to other customary and conventional provisions of International Law, declares that the established laws of war, binding on all States, prohibit the use of missiles which are poisonous; which are exceptionally inhumane; or which, by their use or character, fail to discriminate between armed forces and civilian populations.” This Addendum to Additional Circular is stamped “20 June 1960, Prime Minister’s Office”. The second loose paper concerns a “Membership proposal Form” which has not been completed. The third document is a typed noted from the Assistant Secretary of the International Law Association providing details related to document dissemination for members.
