[/] I have been asked by Mr. White, librarian at Canberra, to write something as to the inception of this book. I wrote: “this tale arose on the same principle as a spring, there had to be some outlet. I trust the resulting stream is a stream and not a bog, and that those who drink of it will find it refreshing. It gave me pleasure to write this simple tale of the bush, and if others find pleasure in it also, that will add to mine.””
