Dominic Mary Paul McGuire was an author and diplomat. A devout Catholic, anti-communist and moral campaigner, Menzies appointed McGuire a personal adviser for the 1951 British Commonwealth prime ministers’ meeting in London. He served as Australia’s ambassador for Italy and envoy to the Holy See from 1957 to 1959.
