Percy Ernest Joske was a lawyer, politician and judge. A lifelong friend of Menzies, they both attended Wesley College and studied law together at the University of Melbourne. Elected member for Balaclava (Victoria) for the Liberal Party, Joske served in the House of Representatives from 1951 to 1960. In 1960, he was appointed a judge of the Commonwealth Industrial Court. He also served as a judge of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory (1960), of the Northern Territory (1961) and of Norfolk Island (1966). A prolific writer, he published a tribute to Menzies in 1978, Sir Robert Menzies 1894-1978: A New, Informal Memoir.
