Summary
This book of papers was given to Menzies by one of its contributors, Lyndhurst Falkiner Giblin. Giblin was an Australian statistician and economist who offered his own opinions and statistics in this holistic review of the economic state and political attitudes of Australia, at both state and federal levels of government. Such data would have been invaluable in a time of post war economic recovery, allowing leaders to guide policy and garner political favour from an informed standpoint. This was particularly critical for Menzies as at the time the Liberal Government was in its infancy, having been elected in the same year as the book’s publication.
