Arthur William Fadden was an accountant, politician and Prime Minister of Australia. Fadden served in the House of Representatives from 1936 to 1958 as the Queensland Country Party (QAP) member for Darling Downs (1936-49) and the QCP member for McPherson (1949-58). After Menzies stood down, he served as Prime Minister from 29 August to 7 October 1941. He was the leader of the Country Party from 1941 to 1958 and served as Treasurer under Menzies from 1949 to 1958, presenting a record 11 budgets. Fadden was acting Prime Minister for periods totalling nearly two years during his coalition governments with Robert Menzies.
