Mary Durack was an Australian historian and writer. She was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1913. Her earliest writing was for The Bulletin and the Perth newspapers The West Australian and The Western Mail. She went on to publish hundreds of works including her account of her pioneer grandfather, Kings in Grass Castles (1959).
