John Frederick Neville Cardus was a journalist, cricket writer and music critic. He published eleven books on cricket and nine on music. He lived in Sydney from 1940 to 1949, working as music critic and cricket writer for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian Broadcasting Commission. He returned to Britain in 1949 but continued to cover cricket for the Sydney Morning Herald.
