Oliver Howard Beale was a barrister, politician, diplomat and company director. Beale was a member of the first State executive of the Liberal Party from July 1945. He was Liberal member for the Federal seat of Parramatta from 1946 to 1958. Beale served in the second Menzies’ government as Minister for Information and Minister for Transport (1949-1950), Minister for Supply (1950-1958) and Minister for Defence Production (1956-1958). Beale’s relations with Menzies were often strained. He was offered the ambassadorship to the United States in July 1957 and resigned from parliament in February 1958. Beal returned to Australia in 1964 and became a businessman and consultant, serving on the boards of numerous companies.
